First edition. Published to promote tourism, this work is notable for the fine albumen photographs, each captioned in the negative, mounted on red bordered stiff leaves with the photographer's imprint under each print. The number of photographs varies, from four to fifteen, ten being the number usually found. This copy includes images of Central City, Boulder Canyon, Clear Creek Canyon, Middle Park, Garden of the Gods, Rainbow Falls (Manitou), and Cheyenne Canyon. "An interesting period account of pioneer Colorado, with sketches of the emigrant routes, the gold rush, mountaineering, early pioneers, and life with the Ute Indians. Copies have been located with from four to fourteen [now fifteen] photographs each. Possibly copies were made to order" (To Delight the Eye 13; 10 photos). Mild rubbing and soiling to cloth, a very good copy. (#168116).
