The first automobile route through the Imperial Valley was a plank road completed in October 1912. Includes a photograph of a San Diego and Arizona Railroad bridge (the railroad was completed in November 1919) and earlier San Diego County construction projects along and near the state highway to Imperial Valley: the Pine Valley bridge (contract issued 1917), Southerland bridge, Moreno Dam (probably after it was raised 5 feet in 1917), etc. Includes a folded three-panel "Panorama of San Diego."
