Edwy Searles Brooks (1889-1965) early in his career wrote many serial stories, including Sexton Blake, Nelson Lee detective, Clive Derring and others, mostly boys adventure fiction. In the late thirties he turned to adult fiction and wrote many detective stories using the pseudonyms Berkeley Gray and Victor Gunn-his main ones-with almost 100 books between the two.
