THE STREET OF THE EYE AND NINE OTHER TALES. London: John Lane The Bodley Head Limited, [1923]. Octavo, pp. [i-vi] vii [viii] [1-2] 3-307 [308: blank], original black cloth, front panel ruled in blind, spine panel stamped in gold, top edge stained yellow, fore and bottom edges untrimmed. First edition. Bullett's first collection of short fiction includes two supernatural horror stories, "The Street of the Eye" and "Dearth's Farm," the latter being his most reprinted tale, as well as "The Enchanted Moment," the germ for MR. GODLY BESIDE HIMSELF (1924). Bleiler (1983) observes that Bullett was "highly regarded during the 1930s, but [is] now undeservedly forgotten," and states that "Dearth's Farm" is excellent.
