First edition. A baby abandoned by Gypsies is cared for by local families in a remote Welsh coastal village where he grows to manhood. Solomon becomes a famous sculptor and ultimately discovers that he is Lord Livington. The second part of the novel, set largely in Australia and New Zealand, is vampire fiction. The vampire, Dr. Power, intends to seduce Vera Morton and experiment on her. Ultimately, Vera and Solomon are married and move to New Zealand. Mild spine lean, a nearly fine copy in very good or better pictorial dust jacket (woodcut illustration on front panel signed "W. H. C.") with light wear along top edge. Scarce. (#171641).
