COME SI FERMÒ LA TERRA: ROMANZO FANTASTICO. Milano: Edizioni "Le Grandi Avventure," 1936. Octavo, pp. [1-8] 9-191 [192], illustrations by E. Gallieni, publisher's pictorial wrappers, untrimmed. First edition. A catastrophe novel set in the year 3000 when the Earth ceases to rotate. One hemisphere is plunged into eternal frost and darkness, the other is burned by the destructive power of the Sun, and it means death for millions of people. Only along the thin strip of territory of the twilight zone is life still possible, and since the help of the Martians is slow in arriving, to grab a strip of it the governments of the Earth declare war on each other, and the people fall into barbarism. Ciancimino's last novel, published posthumously in 1936. COME SI FERMÒ LA TERRA [How the Earth Stood Still] is one of the best-known examples of the naive but always entertaining Italian pre-World War II proto-science fiction. Some wear to overlapping edges of wrappers, pulp paper tanned. a very good copy. (#173025).
