First printing in this format. Some copies of this revised version of Chisholm's ALL ROUND ROUTE GUIDE have an 11 1/2-foot folded panorama of the St. Lawrence River by Alfred E. Waud and a folded map of the Niagara region, as well as 46 pages of advertisements. This issue has only the folded "All-round Route Map. Chisholm's first guide to this region, CHISHOLM'S HAND-BOOK OF TRAVEL AND TOURIST'S GUIDE THROUGH CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES, was published in Montreal in 1866. This popular guide was reprinted many times. The last, published in 1880, was a 556-page edition expanded to include the "Great West, North West and Far West." Cole (1976) 28 (recording a 1875 edition). See Sabin 12841. There is no indication that the St. Lawrence River and Niagara maps were present in this copy. The front cover is chipped along the fore-edge, the spine panel is chipped at the upper and lower edges, the purple ink is faded to gray, a good copy of a scarce travel guide. (#174402).
