Insert ribbon copy, remainder carbon copy, corrections and copy edits in ink and pencil throughout. Novelette published in SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, 21 December 1964. The manuscript includes a 7-page delete and its replacement. Sturgeon donated this manuscript to a Lunacon auction. Includes a cover letter to "Dear Walt" [Walter Cole?] dated 11 February 1965 signed "T.H.S." and an undated letter "to the highest bidder" signed in full. Both letters are on Sturgeon's THS stationery. The story was collected in THE NAIL AND THE ORACLE: VOLUME XI OF THE COMPLETE STORIES OF THEODORE STURGEON (2007). Diskin A151. Some leaves creased and soiled, very good. Accompanied by the Sports Illustrated mailing envelope returning the manuscript to Sturgeon. (#174585).
