(#176611) COSMOLOGY . 1933 ., A. M. MacDermott, Clifton Amsbury, number 1 volume 6, whole number 17, formerly COMET.

Lincoln, Nebraska: International Scientific Association, 1933 (volume 6, number 1, whole number 17). Large octavo, single issue, blue wrappers printed in black, stapled. Last of the seventeen issues of this scarce amateur magazine, the organ of the Science Correspondence Club (later reorganized as the International Scientific Association). Science articles including two contributed by Willy Ley. COMET, later COSMOLOGY, is arguably the first science fiction fanzine, although its articles emphasized science fact, not science fiction. The first issue, titled COMET, was published in May 1930, preceding Allen Glasser's fanzine, THE PLANET, by about two months. Moskowitz, The Immortal Storm (1974), pp. 8-9. Pavlat and Evans, Fanzine Index (1965), p. 19. A very good or better copy. Signed by editor Aubrey M. MacDermott on page [1]. (#176611).
