Large blue line map, 86.4x66 cm (34x26 inches), folded into printed paper wrappers that read: "A NEW AUTOMOBILE ROAD MAP CALIFORNIA NEVADA SAN FRANCISCO VICINITY COMPLIMENTS UNION TRUST COMPANY MARKET STREET AT GRANT AVENUE ..." An uncommon promotional for the Union Trust Company, "The Oldest Trust Company in the West," comprising two road maps, one of California and Nevada and the other of the San Francisco Bay Area. The two-sided map was issued in 1922 by Rand McNally, but here has had advertising for the Union Trust Company added. In addition to providing a detailed outline of roads in the two western states and around the San Francisco Bay, the verso of the map also has text describing the banking services of Union Trust, an ad for the California State Automobile Association, a synopsis of the 1921 California Motor Vehicle Act, San Francisco Bay ferry time tables, and a list of incorporated towns found on the map with their populations. Two copies of the regular issue of this map are found in the Rand McNally collection at the Newberry and at Northern Arizona University. No copies of this Union Trust variant have been located. The map is fine. The paper folder has a 68 mm closed tear at the top edge of the front panel near the spine fold and there are a couple of scuff marks and creases to the front panel as well.
