THE BUSCH GARDENS PASADENA CALIFORNIA [cover title]. Los Angeles: Pub. by Graham Photo Co., n.d. [circa 1910]. 12.8x17.6 cm (small oblong octavo), pp. [1-16] (not paginated). illustrations, pictorial wrappers, stapled. A souvenir booklet with postcard-sized color views of the Busch Gardens in Pasadena printed by the Van Ornum Colorprint Co., Los Angeles. One of the photographs shows the Garden's most famous feature, the Old Mill, built in 1910. The gardens, developed by Adolphus Busch, beginning in 1906, were opened to the public and became a popular tourist attraction. Huge events were given in the gardens and hundreds of motion pictures were filmed there. Following the death of Adolphus and his wife, the Busch heirs offered the property twice to the city at reasonable rates, but the city declined citing no need for additional park land. In 1938 the property was subdivided into a residential neighborhood. The gardens manager Edmund Krug worked closely with developers and thus many of the original features exist today. Rocq (1970) 4614. A fine copy. (#177259).
