Chambers Lodge was one of the oldest resorts on Lake Tahoe, first established as a hunting lodge, McKinney's Retreat, by John McKinney in 1863. The name Chambers Lodge honored David H. Chambers who built a lodge at the site in 1928. After a succession of ownership changes, the lodge was ultimately demolished in 1970 and the site is now mostly occupied by vacation homes (the 1875 boathouse is now a popular bar). A fine copy.
