The second general visitors' guide to Sequoia and General Grant National Parks, issued when the parks were still under U.S. Army administration. There is information on transportation to the parks, a list of major points of interest, a bibliography, and a list of birds and mammals found in the park. The first civilian Park Superintendent, Walter Fry, was appointed in 1914. Beginning with the 1912 season, circulars for each national park have been issued annually (with the exception of biennial issues for the 1915-1916, 1917-1918, and 1919-1920 seasons) with many changes of title, length and format. Circulars for the 1917-1918 season and subsequent series were issued by the National Park Service. The initial series was described in the monthly catalogue, United States Public documents, May 1912, page 723, as "circulars for the convenience of tourists, one for each park, telling how best to get to it, what the accommodations are, what are the authorized prices for service, what side trips may be made and how, the rules and regulations for using the parks, and all other things that vacationers and sightseers wish to know." Circulars issued prior to 1940 constitute an important source of historical data on park concessionaires. Small soil mark to recto of first leaf, a very good copy. (#179283).
