Founded in 1929 by Hugo Gernsback as EVERYDAY MECHANICS after he lost control of his earlier publishing venture, Experimenter Publishing Company. The publication was renamed EVERYDAY SCIENCE AND MECHANICS in 1931 and later shortened to SCIENCE AND MECHANICS in 1937 after Virgil Angerman purchased it. The publication ran through various owners (including Davis Publications) until it ceased publication in 1984. Regular subjects included early radio, early television, electronics, mechanics, and much more, with emphasis on practical technology, DIY projects and theoretical science. Covers often featured dramatic, futuristic illustrations, many created by early SF artist Frank R. Paul. Spine ends chipped and lightly frayed, mild dust soiling to covers, a very good copy. Frank R.
