MR. MEESON'S WILL: A NOVEL. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1888. Octavo, pp. [1-4] [1] 2-270 [271-272: ads] [1] 2-12: ads, fly leaves at front and rear, original three-quarter cloth and marbled boards, spine panel stamped in gold, salmon coated endpapers. First authorized U.S. edition. This edition, published simultaneously in cloth and boards and in paper wrappers in June 1888 (listed Publishers Weekly 23 June 1888) probably preceded the version printed as the "Summer Number" of the Illustrated London News (published about 23 June 1888) and definitely preceded the Spencer Blackett edition (published in October 1888). This Harper & Brothers edition was possibly preceded by the John W. Lovell Company's pirated edition (issued as "Lovell's Library No. 1183" dated 20 June 1888). Hubin (1994), p. 361. McKay 9a. Scott 9b. Whatmore F8.6.c. Hint of rubbing to cloth at head and tail of spine panel and corners, a very good, bright copy. (#32319).
