THE GIRLS FROM EARTH ... Adapted by Ira Marion. Tales of Tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, 1953, WABC & Network, 9:00-9:30 PM NYT. New York: American Broadcasting Corporation, 1953. Large octavo, [1] [1] 2-27 leaves, printed on rectos only, mimeographed from typewritten copy, loose sheets, stapled. First edition. Script for the radio adaptation of Robinson's "The Girls from Earth" (a novelette first published in GALAXY, January 1952) broadcast 19 March 1953. Signed by Robinson on recto of title leaf. Among the thirteen or so programs that started on television and found its way to radio, was TALES OF TOMORROW. Only fifteen programs were broadcast, all hosted by Raymond Edward Johnson (of INNER SANCTUM MYSTERIES fame). Many of the scripts were adapted from stories published in GALAXY magazine. One interesting fact about this program was that in its short life on the air, it was heard over two different networks. The first nine broadcasts (1 January 1953 - 26 February 1953) were produced for ABC while the last six (5 March 1953 - 9 April 1953) were heard over CBS. Apparently, all episodes were produced on a sustaining basis. Signed "Approved for broadcast" stamp on recto of title leaf. Three-ring binder holes punched in left margins, a fine copy. Rare (#96225).
